Both are great. That it uses org-mode means that it’s always at hand and the simple decentralizaiton means that can be integrated into my website easily.

For grading a lecture I give, I use a table with mean values so I can get an overview how hard the tasks were.
The first of the two sums on the right is calculated by hand, the second is from the table formula to check consistency.
Example with fake numbers and fake results:

I can’t really help you with getting contributions differently, but I see a different perspective:
That it’s hard to get feedback via github shows that many of the active free software contributors already moved away from Github. Even while github still has a ton of people, activity is already shifting away from it.
It used to be the other way round: if you wanted feedback or contributions, you had to have a github project.
Maybe we need better systems to integrate feedback from many different channels. The guix folks had built a solution to make emailed issues act like an issue tracker before they focussed more on codeberg: https://issues.guix.gnu.org/
Sourcehut also has something that turns emails into issues in the tracker: https://man.sr.ht/todo.sr.ht/
But both lack integration for other services: in an ideal world, your contributors could be notified on any service they are on, be it email or mastodon or IRC, so you could stay in contact from one unified interface.
I remember when multi-messenger systems provided that (before every chat platform turned itself into a walled garden).
I know that this does not help you right away, but I hope it will in the future.
